Correos uses this month a new telecommunications network oflatest generation, implemented in all centers and Chronoexprés, its subsidiary for express parcel. This new equipment represents a major leap forward in global technological renovation that takes place in the framework of its INTEGRA project, and is a clear example of the commitment to Information Technology and Communications, ICT asstrategic axis competitiveness of the public postal operator.
The new communications platform will allow the public postal operator quadrupling the capacity of computer communications and improve availability, security and scalability, while facilitating its use by workers.
This new telecommunications network that Telefónica Empresas art, technology partner for telecommunications services, has been implemented in more than 2,400 centers, has the capacity to meet all communication needs of the Correos Group in the coming years. It is based on MPLS technology on an IP infrastructure, and will channel communications voice and data, access the Internet from their offices and also mobile communications, thereby facilitating, among other service, email on PDAs and mobile. Therefore, this new platform will allow a more comfortable communication between all Post offices and more than 65,000 employees, own postal operator and customers and employees of the entity.
The new infrastructure provided by Telefónica Post gives greater bandwidth for greater flexibility in their current applications and new facilities, such as 5 digit dialing for calls throughout the national territory.
